So my mother & father have 4 (!) 8300HD boxes in their house, most recently we exchanged one that was defective in December (they seem to go once every 6 months to 3 years). They don't want multiroom DVR because the lack of ability to rewind live TV and the combined storage limit is not enough for them. However, it seems like this is still the box of choice for CV for local dvrs - even though Cisco ended all support of all types in September 2014.
Does CV have any plans to succeed the 8300HD or have they already been issuing new local DVR boxes? I'm sure they can comfortably issue out of the huge stack 8300HDs theyhave sitting around in the meantime, but eventually hardware resources will dwindle or they'll be some issue with a pushed software update and Cisco won't provide any support on why it's having difficulty.
Just curious if there is any word on new boxes or if they're going to sunset local DVRs.
