I just posted in the OOL direct forum, but i figured i'd post here to get some opinions.
I know NJ is upside down right now due to Sandy, - we've had power here in florham park for about 10 days and I see OOL trucks driving around this area as well.
I moved on the 3rd
Nov 3rd - scheduled install - no call/no show
I called OOL to complain
Nov 5th - scheduled install no call/no show
I called OOL to complain
Nov 12th - scheduled install no call/no show
I called OOL and they told me it was cancelled and i should have received a call (i did not)
Now they told me 11/14 - guaranteed (yea right)
They told me the 3rd, 5th, and 12th, were all cancelled the day before and i should have been notified ? I wasnt notified once, and they do have my cell on file as my primary...
This is insane and the most stressful situation - I mean i understand sandy wiped out a lot of people, I understand things have been delayed. I did ALL of the work, tech probably just to come run some tests, and check some numbers, call dispatch and activate the service. It will be the easiest install of the week for him - still - i can't get someone out here, like i'm a leper.
Is anyone else dealing with this same BS ? or am i the only schmuck ?

Move today/Install tomorrow ??? yeah right

Why is Optimum Holding Back Android App
There are more Android smartphones out there then iphones and Android tablets will (more than likely) soon take over the majority of the tablet market as well.
So it astonishes me that Optimum shows no regard for the platform at all.
They are dragging their feet in releasing the Optimum Live Streaming app for Android, All the talk of its coming and should be out soon is what we've been hearing for months and its BS.
The Android version of the App is done, its out on the Kindle fire that runs Android, the Apk can be side loaded on to the Nexus 7 and works and others have been able to fiddle with build props on other Android devices and gotten it working in other cases as well.
So they have an Android version but they will not release it to All Android Devices.

[iO] New Jersey All Digital
Cablevision (NYSE: CVC) is beginning to notify subscribers in New Jersey that it will convert to an all-digital platform, which will require every TV in a home to be connected to a cable set-top by Oct. 1.
http://www.fiercecable.com/story/cablevision-go-all-digital-new-jersey/2012-07-13
Cablevision Digital Conversion Details:
Those currently paying for set top box(es) will continue to do so. But customers can request additional boxes or CableCARDs for every remaining television in the home and receive them free for one year.
Those who have no digital set top boxes in their homes now can receive a free box or CableCARD for every set for two years. In all instances, after the free promotion ends, customers will pay $6.95/mo for each device.
Newer televisions equipped with a QAM tuner can watch Cablevision's broadcast basic tier, consisting primarily of local over the air stations, without any extra equipment. Basic cable networks and premium channels will require a box or CableCARD.
Broadband customers can use Cablevision's app for iOS or a personal computer to watch the company's cable lineup within the home.
A Digital Television Adapter (DTA), or Digital-To-Analog Converter [set-top box] will be available from Cablevision within a year.
Equipment installation is free. Do-it-yourself customers can have the necessary equipment mailed to them for free or can pick equipment up at any Optimum Store location.

Apparently, comcast Xfinity service is enabled via Tivo devices and Xbox. I believe Fios is on Xbox also. Is there any plan for Optimum to allow on demand services on these devices soon?

bad upload speeds; some websites not resolving
My OOL connection is something I rarely think about. I always get consistent speeds. I have the "regular" OOL. Anyway, this morning it is taking forever to reach websites. Some just time out. I did a speedtest and my download is fine but my upload is bad. Is there anything I can check to see if it is on my end? Or a temporary issue with Optimum?

Almost perfect modem stats since power returned after Sandy
Before sandy and the massive power outage in our area (Fairfield, CT) my modem would usually go no longer than 24 hours before getting uncorrectable errors in the logs. Just checked my modem today and no uncorrectable errors for almost 17 days. Do you think it is just a coincedence or do you think the power down of all the network equipment between my house and the head end helped. Actually think the headend went down at some point as well because of the possibility of water damage. Just seems to be directly related. Or perhaps a bad run of fiber was taken down by a tree and the new fiber is better. I guess will never know for sure. just wondering what everyone thinks and if anyone else has seen an improvement on their modems as well.
