Has anyone else ever experienced optimum hosted email automatically deleting? A friend of mine had a bunch of email deleted, their sent and trash folders completely cleaned out, and they say they did not instruct it to do so. Archive is also gone. Inbox seems intact though. They use Outlook 365 as their desktop email client, and I checked it for auto-deleting settings and things looked normal (no auto deleting on). Even so, I don't see how the client would delete 100% of the sent and trash folders' contents. They weren't close to filling their 5GB quota either. The email content is consistent between the website and Outlook, and the sync is setup using IMAP. Is it possible that Optimum deleted all their sent and trash folder email by accident or on purpose? Is there a way of recovering the deleted mail?

[OOL] DNS issues? - edit please delete
Edit: mods please delete. issue seems different then DNS. Issue persists when using public DNS as well.
Is anybody experiencing intermittent DNS issues? Since late yesterday my internet has been very choppy. Everything would work fine for a while, then suddenly sites will not load for about 30 seconds. Then be back to fine.
Optimum is giving me 65.19.96.252 as primary and 65.19.96.253 as the secondary DNS.
I then decided to run the DNS Benchmark tool on the DNS servers optimum was giving me, and low and behold 65.19.96.252, the primary DNS i'm being given, is totally inaccessible and not replying to DNS queries. But 253 works fine.
So I can only assume the "blips" I'm experiencing is optimum trying to use the failing 252 primary DNS, then failing over to my secondary DNS.
I'm going to test a bit more with public DNS, and manually setting the .253 address as the primary. But in the meantime, can anyone else confirm they're having similar issues?

Those lying dogs.....
Which I always expect. This is why I always go over my bill with a fine tooth comb.
I have pixelation on ABC, WLIW and it's subchannels on occassion. I called on sept 19th. the rep restarted the box from the office (like that would do anything. roflmao). then afterwards they sent a tech out. Oct 2 at 11 am. I confirmed with the rep that I wouldn't be charged to begin with if he doesn't come into the house and if this couldn't be fixed w/o him coming into the house, he wasn't fixing it. Of course, just like a car that doesn't make a noise when the mechanic is looking at it, it wasn't pixelating when the tech showed up. I had also moved the box into my bedroom so I cancelled the appt. I signed the little hand held machine that I cancelled the appt.
So, I look at my bill today and it says "Missed appt" $80 !
HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
I called them and it took me 3 min. to get to where I would talk to someone. They were closed because I called at 8:01. (insert facepalm here)
So I'll call first thing tomorrow. It'll be interesting if they say they will give me a credit because I don't have the $141 to pay them. My bill is supposed to be $54. That's what I Have to pay them and that's what they're getting.
I'll update tomorrow after I call them. ;)

[OOL] Worth It To Upgrade TM802
A neighbor still has OOL 100 with a TM802 and was recently sent a new DLink router to replace the old Netgear, but not a new modem and is being charged the $10/month fee.
Is it worth it for them to go to the walk in center for a TM1602? Would they even give them one with the account only being OOL 100?

Optimum refuses to update firmware.
What does one have to do to get customer service from Optimum Online? If you do a Google search on the topic it will tell you that it is the internet service providers responsibility to download the correct firmware into any cable modem whether it is customer owned or owned by Optimum. I have just spent hours on the phone even bridging up Netgear for support and Optimum refuses to push any new firmware to my modem. It is physically impossible for a customer to update the firmware in their own cable modem as the update must be delivered by the WAN connection over the coaxial cable. So after talking to about four different text and several supervisors the only thing I could get from Optimum was to go to their store and buy a modem from them. I guess this is Optimum business model. Do not offer any support for customer-owned equipment so the customer must rent equipment or buy it from Optimum. Well my take on it is that if Optimum does not want customer-owned equipment connected to their Network than they need to supply their equipment for free. I bought my own modem because the one I had supplied from Optimum was old and they refused to replace it. So I figured I would save the monthly rental charge and get my own modem. I checked with Optimum before I purchased this modem to find out if it was compatible with their Network and if they supported it. They said it was so I bought it but now they are refusing to push the firmware updates out to the modem. Is everyone at Optimum completely ignorant as to how this firmware update thing works? I guess they are since I could not find one person at Optimum that could understand this concept. If anyone out there has customer-owned equipment and is experiencing problems check your firmware versions and make sure they are up to date. Is the firmware in your modem is not up to date call Optimum online and demand that they updated. The only way they are going to do what they are being paid to do is if enough people complain.

[OOL] cheap hardwire setup?
I just got optimum on a house with coax everywhere but no ethernet. I was thinking about getting powerline or having someone put in the ethernet cables for me. But both those options seem expensive. Then I remembered about moca and the FIOS network extender that goes for like $25 on ebay. I also have an actiontec FIOS router I got for like $35 on ebay. And I might have a moca filter at home too, but if not, it looks cheap. Will this setup work? I'm really not sure how I would configure the FIOS router. Maybe I would just use it similar to a switch and connect it to my home router?
I also have to check if I can use the old phone lines or the coax itself to push the ethernet cables, that might be a cheaper DIY option if they weren't stapled to studs. But the moca setup sounds slightly interesting as I would just need to invest $25 for the FIOS network extender.

got a debitcard instead of a check for cancellation refund
mastercard, has 'optimum by Altice' on front, 1 year expiration date, $3 monthly card maintenance fee after card expired.
only need zip code to activate the card.
seems no process fee, so if you want one, just pay more on purpose --before-- cancelling, can't do it after they disable your account.
i just realized disabling account is a good idea to avoid needing to refund, the final bill may included equipments, or few people managing and forgot to tell the others not to pay, or even the auto pay.

TG1672 BYO Optimum Business Static IPs
I tried searching the forum for a post like this, but searching for "TG1672" doesn't give any results, although I know there are posts about it from 2017.
Here's the TL;DR: I want to replace the Cisco cable modem I own with an Arris TG1672G from Amazon to support my Optimum Business Static IP block (using Internet ONLY, not other features such as VoIP). Looking for success/failure stories before I buy and try to provision.
I have an older Cisco cable modem (Optimum supported, I own) that is working flawlessly, but I am not getting the 300Mbit bandwidth I am paying for. I spoke to a tech rep on the phone today, and he said the modem I need is the TG1672. I found the TG1672G online at Amazon, and the Optimum tech indicated that the "G" means it has battery support (not something I need since I have UPSes and a backup standby generator).
They are selling them on Amazon with a warning that they are not Optimum compatible. Some say they work, others not so much.
Amazon link: https://www.amazon.com/TG1672G-Touchstone-Telephony-Gateway-Packed/dp/B001E5Q79S
I know this is the modem recommended by the Optimum Tech, and it's the one they would lease to me anyway. I am fairly confident that if it's NIB it should work and Optimum should be able to provision it for me. I wanted to know if there were folks on these forums who have deployed their own (or for a customer or "know a guy who...") and if it was successful or not.
Buying the modem outright pays for itself in 15 months. I will probably use it for at least 3 years, so that's a $150 savings off of rental fees I don't feel like paying. I am okay supporting it myself.
Any suggestions/feedback is greatly appreciated.
Thx!

I can't even find WCBS channel 2-1 anymore!. WCBS was supposed to change frequencies on august 1 st. but apparently Altice moved that up!.. many other channels have moved too, and I don't like having to search through the garbage to delete the junk channels, and even then, I have to remember where the good channels are now!.. [Optimum Voice] Phone problems
I have been having phone issues with my OV service starting on the 23rd. Spoke to the online chat guy today and they said they cant fix the issue on their end- scheduled to have someone come over on Thursday. I wanted to see if I can fix this myself beforehand.
I can make and receive calls but cannot hear the other person. I tried making and receiving calls both with a cordless and a wired phone, the result was the same. The phone rings when someone calls me but I hear nothing when I pick up. The other person can hear me. I get a dial tone as normal when I pick up the phone to dial out, but do not hear the other person's phone ring but they pick up and say they can hear me even though I can't hear them. Whats going on? I have the full triple play service and am also using the Optimum router (D-link model) with the modem directly connected to my desktop and the phone.

[help] Optimum internet connection drops regularly
I have had an Optimum Arris modem (100mb) for 2.5 years, and starting about a month ago my connection has begun disconnecting every few minutes, then reconnecting itself about 10 seconds later.
I have reproduced this consistently each weekend when I have time to test it:
I have unplugged the router and connected my modem directly to my desktop computer to eliminate the router as a potential issue.
I will ping an ip address and watch as it successfully returns results over and over, and then after a few minutes, it suddenly times out 4-5 times in a row, then resumes working again. The timeouts repeat again ~a few minutes later.
When the modem is plugged into my router, I see the connection drops not just on my wired desktop computer, but on every wireless device also connected.
Optimum says that they can send a technician, but that i'll be charged $80 if it's due to "inside wiring." I've asked a couple different Optimum support reps and none can tell me what "inside wiring" means, but the fact that I haven't changed my wiring since I moved in tells me they shouldn't be charging me. Based on how my interactions with them have been so far, I have a feeling they will blame/charge me regardless of the issue.
If there's any troubleshooting anyone can recommend, or if anyone knows how likely it is they'll blame/charge me, I'd be most appreciative. Thanks!
